BA Chemistry, Balliol College, Oxford. 35 year career with Unilever in detergents / personal care and chemicals including assignments in Thailand, Portugal, The Netherlands, Brazil, and Germany, ending with senior global roles in R & D and Supply Chain management. Retired from Unilever in 2003. Current activities include Vice-Presidency and membership of executive committee of the Society of Chemical Industry.
