Andy Andrews
After 20 years with several Unilever divisions in senior UK and overseas HR roles, spent 10 years in KPMG's management consultancy, becoming MD of one of its subsidiary companies. In 1997 left to set up ARA Consulting, a partnership specialising in organisational strategy, effectiveness and change. D. Phil. in Molecular Science.
Fergus Cass
BA from University College Dublin in economics and politics; FCMA; MA from UCL (2005) in economics of transition countries. Worked for Unilever from 1967 to 2003, initially in financial management and later in general management. Career included 20 years in board level positions in Unilever operating companies in a range of countries in Europe and Africa. Led the development of Unilever’s business in South Eastern Europe. Since retirement, has been working part-time as a non-executive director in companies in Romania, also contributing consulting input in strategy development, performance monitoring and other areas.
Roger Clarke
BA Hons Geography Sheffield University, ACMA, MCIPS. VSO Sierra Leone. Over 30 years with Unilever in buying, logistics and financial roles including FD of European makeup business, leader of SCOA project and head of UK audit office. Now mainly supporting mission activity.
Rosemary Connell
M.A.Hons. Economic Science, Edinburgh University. Mainly worked in manufacturing industry in Strategy and Planning, (20 years at Unilever, 8 at Unigate, 2 each at Shell Mex & BP, and Laporte). 3 years setting up and running a European Research Dept for Bankers Trust. Now retired, doing Charity work.
Robin Coope
Unilever's Chief Regional Economist until 1993 responsible for relating world developments to Unilever operations. Since then he has lectured on international economic developments and written for The Scotsman among other periodicals. He is currently studying evolutionary psychology for its intrinsic interest and for understanding economic motivation and behaviour. Sadly Robin passed away on 3rd March 2010.
Mac Derwig
Recently retired after 32 years in Unilever, including periods as CFO Chemicals worldwide 1989-1993, SVP Operations, Africa& Middle East 1993-1997 Head Special Projects (Financial Group) 1997-2000, responsible during these last years for the successful worldwide implementation of SCOA (Standard Chart of Account). Currently Treasurer at The University of Surrey.
Paul Garwood
Trained as a scientist (Imperial College, London) but never practised. Retired in 2001 after a long time with Unilever, including latterly working on Corporate Venturing and previously in US, East Asia and Speciality Chemicals. Divides time between London, New York and further afield, and works on the edges for Public Policy think tanks in London and Washington. Has three Board directorships including an international design business HQ’d in Cincinnati. Interests include cricket, classical music and theoretical physics.
Sandy Gray
BA Chemistry, Balliol College, Oxford. 35 year career with Unilever in detergents/ personal care and chemicals ending with senior appointments in R & D and Supply Chain management. Included assignments in Thailand, Portugal, The Netherlands (x2), Brazil, and Germany. Recently retired from Unilever. Currently his activities include the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees of the Society of Chemical Industry.
Ray Moran
Graduated in Economics from Cambridge and is also a qualified accountant. During a 30 year career with Unilever, Ray worked in various planning and finance functions in markets ranging from animal feedingstuffs to detergents. His final role was Senior VP Finance for Unilever Research; he retired in 1999.
Mike Owen
Corporate strategist and applied business economist. For nineteen years he was at GlaxoSmithKline as a Director in International Marketing and latterly in Corporate Strategy. Prior to this he worked in the Economics Department of Unilever in London on a range of international projects.
Martin Wilkinson
Trinity mathmo with research into statistics representation. Management career in Commercial / Accounting and then IT functions. Specialisms include Corporate Information Architecture and IT security. Post career involves forest conservation and Tonbridge Fives coaching.
Keith Watkin
After training at Leeds University in colour chemistry and dyeing, Keith joined Unilever Research at Port Sunlight in1966 and spent his entire career (33 years) at Unilever within research, development and manufacturing. Keith has worked in a number of countries and in a variety of roles, including Lever Brothers Limited where he was Technical Director, culminating with senior appointments in the head office coordinating manufacturing strategy. He is now enjoying retired life.
