MAKING THE NUMBERS TALK TLE Strategy

The TLE Business Monitor© - identifies short / medium term changes in purchasing power by income group, driven by Government economic policy changes, and the resulting shifts in consumption.

The Business Monitor tool is primarily intended to provide input to Annual Plans and help monitor possible variance from Plan, as the economic environment changes over the short term; it is not intended as a major input to longer term strategic planning.

The Economics Module of the Business Monitor,

  • can be syndicated across a number of companies in a given country,
  • allows you to score past and future changes in Government policy and other factors,
  • translates these into the consequent changes in discretionary income by income group.

The Marketing Module of the Business Monitor,

  • estimates income sensitivity (the extent to which people pay more per unit or buy more as their incomes rise) and underlying trend for each product category,
  • uses the discretionary income forecasts from the Economics Module to quantify the consequent changes in consumption for each category and income group,
  • differentiates between shifts arising from penetration, volume per head and price,
  • identifies Opportunity and Risk segments of the market.
