David Hurst

David is Chairman of TLE Strategy and tends to take the lead in model creation and evolving the general strategic direction of the Company.

David is a Director of TLE and has over 30 years experience with business modelling, mining hard and soft data to build decision support systems in a wide range of industries. Before founding TLE David spent 20 years in Unilever where he developed and number of highly innovative and practical approaches to marketing strategy and analysis. He read PPE at Oxford, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a past winner of the President Elect’s Prize of the Operational Research Society. In addition to his experience in the FMCG industry, David has also had spells in the electronics and publishing industries. Outside the office, David is actively involved in a number of Church and Charity leadership roles.

Jan Bajorek

Jan is Managing Director and tends to take the lead on new business and ideas development, client relationship management and project delivery

Jan is a Director of TLE. Having gained a PhD in Chemistry and a Business Degree with distinction from MBS, Jan has worked overseas (Unilever Africa Company) in many roles including, operations, managing a liquor business in the Middle East, and buying lingerie for Africa. On returning to the UK Jan spent 4 years in UAC’s Planning Department, providing a range of operational and strategic services to various global business units. Prior to founding TLE, Jan spent 10 years in Unilever’s Corporate Development and Economics Department, working on in-depth competitor analysis, developing market and competitive strategies and identifying new business opportunities, and contributing to Unilever’s global strategy formulation.

Sarah Hayward

Sarah leads on model development and strategic insights, in addition to complementing Jan’s marketing skills.

Sarah, a Director of TLE, graduated from Manchester University with a Doctorate in Agricultural Economics. Her experience ranges from detailed economic modelling, through high level strategic support, process redesign, improvement in budget & cost control and basic management accounting to child care. She joined Unilever as an analyst in Corporate Planning and Economics Department. Before leaving Unilever, Sarah worked directly for the Chairman of Lever Faberge on strategic issues, including the establishment of a new business venture. She is a member of CIMA.

While taking a year out to travel in Africa, Sarah learned that you can roll a Landrover and walk away; she has now switched to the bicycle!

Besides working for TLE, Sarah spends as much time as possible with her family and is the Vice-Chair of the local primary school governing body.

Peter Whicheloe

Peter tends to take the lead on technical software development and support, but is also keen to develop the business in Asia.

Peter contributes to TLE his experience of business strategy across the whole spectrum of economic development. This knowledge has been gained from multinational companies, including Unilever where Peter was head of Planning Services at Group level, and working in Asia holding a number of positions responsible for identifying businesses for entry and roll out across Asian markets.

Throughout his career Peter has taken a keen interest in the academic aspects of business, especially computer based statistical modelling to support strategic marketing and planning.
Peter has a BSc (1st), a Masters Degree and Post Graduate studies in Management Science and Economics.

Andrew Black

Andrew tends to take responsibility for new opportunity development and integration of the Value Creation approach with the Market analyses.

Andrew has extensive experience in the field of investment analysis, valuations, & value based management. The author of two books, "In Search of Shareholder Value", and "Questions of Value" (published by Pearson). These look in detail at the issues surrounding value based management and their links to the financial markets. In "Questions of Value" themes around the impact of stricter corporate governance regulations are considered. He is also the Managing Director of Building Value Associates Ltd, whose clients include Volvo, the Design Council, Air New Zealand, Qantas airlines & BP amongst others.

He holds a PhD in economics from London University. He has worked for the DTI, Unilever, Commerzbank and for PwC. Prior to this he held positions as a research fellow at the Science Centre in Berlin, where he did research on industrial economics and the automobile industry and at the Max Planck Institute in Starnberg. He has spent many years linking economic thinking to business analysis.

Nigel Harris

Nigel leads on commercial issues, supporting Jan on client relationship management, and leads with Value Creation propositions.

Nigel has unique, practical expertise in the field of implementing value-based management, particularly in the overall context of CFROI (Cash Flow Return On Investment), performance measurement and valuation framework.

Nigel is Managing Director of Valuise, a shareholder value based consultancy that works in close association with TLE. His major clients include IBM, ICI, Pilkington, Tomkins, Cadbury Schweppes and Unilever. He was a Director of HOLT Value Associates Ltd until their acquisition, and spent 12 years at Unilever, where he played a leading role in the development and implementation of value based measurements and management.

Nigel is a Fellow of CIMA and holds a
B Commerce degree from Birmingham University.

Chris Taylor

Chris provides essential back office support and effectively, keeps us all organised!

Chris worked for almost 36 years for Unilever - the first 18 with UAC Limited in UAC Chemists, Breweries and Motors Divisions, starting off in the typing pool and moving up to the heady heights of secretary!

She then moved over to Unilever House, spending a couple of years in Economics Department before joining the Africa Group where she worked for the next 15 years or so before being made redundant when the Group relocated to South Africa. For TLE, Chris is indispensable!
